Frequently Asked Questions

Will my plan be customized to me?

Yes! All of our programs are customized to each individual. All new clients fill out a detailed questionnaire. They will be assigned a personal coach who will use their questionnaire to design a plan specific to their goals, needs, and lifestyle. You will then do weekly check-ins with your coach as well as have email access to your coach. Additionally, we offer open coaching calls each week where you can get any of your questions answered live.

Is this a low carb program?

No! Our programs are macro-based and our goal is to have you losing weight on as many carbs as possible! We specialize in helping women build a healthy metabolism and cutting carbs is not the best way to do that. While everyone is different and how well you lose weight is determined in large part to how strict you were dieting before, we have had women losing a pound a week eating over 150g of carbs per day.

Will this program involve intermittent fasting?

Only if you want it to! Because our programs are macro-based, YOU get to decide what and when you eat. If you hate eating breakfast, don’t. If you are hungry by 6am every morning, eat!

Do I need to buy any supplements or protein powders?

Nope! We encourage our clients to fill their macros with as much whole, nutrient dense food as possible. If you choose to use protein powder in order to do so, that is your choice and we will not push a specific brand on you. We also do not recommend any supplements.

Can I really eat whatever I want on this program?

Yes, you really can! Because our programs focus on hitting specific macro-nutrient totals, you truly can eat whatever you want as long as you hit those totals.

How is this different from other diet plans?

First of all, we are not pushing a certain “diet”, but instead a more intentional approach to eating. We use a science-based approach and allow you to eat what you want. We also focus on metabolic health by including weight-bearing exercises in all of our plans and helping you lose weight on as many calories as possible. Finally, we know that even if we design you the perfect plan it won’t be effective if you don’t follow it. So, we provide accountability and lifestyle coaching to help our clients get their brains on board to implement and follow their plans. Our clients report that our approach is refreshingly different from any other approach to weight loss they have tried.

My metabolism has gotten so slow as I’ve gotten older. Can you help me improve it?

Yes! This is what we specialize in! It is not inevitable that your metabolism will slow down as you age. It only slows down if you are not performing weight-bearing exercises and/or if you have been dieting (eating low calorie) for an extended period of time. We will help you to reverse this process and get your metabolism working for you again! If you think you fall into this category, you would be a great candidate for our 12 Weeks to a Metabolism Upgrade program.

How much weight will I lose?

This is, of course, is different for everyone. If you come to us and have been over-eating and not performing a solid workout plan, you can expect to lose .5 to 1lb per week if you follow our plan. For those who have been under-eating, our goal will be to first get your metabolism back to a healthy level before we can start cutting your calories.

What work can I expect to do on this program?

We expect our clients to track their food daily, do their best to hit our customized macronutrient goals, and fit in their workouts. We also hope you will actively participate in our Facebook accountability group and weekly group coaching calls.

Can I still drink alcohol?

Yes! In moderation. Because our nutrition plans are macro-based, you can fit some alcohol into your plan if you choose to do so.

I have tried everything and nothing has worked. Why is this any different?

We are different for so many reasons. We consciously prioritize metabolic health above all else. This means that, if you have been dieting for an extended period of time and nothing seems to be working, we will not just have you eat even less and exercise more. We will, instead assess your metabolic health and work to improve that before we do more damage (I.e. by dieting even harder). We also take a macro-based approach that allows for maximum flexibility with regards to when and what you eat. We also provide coaching sessions with a Certified Life Coach that provide accountability and help you overcome obstacles that may have prevented you from making progress in the past. Finally, all of our programs are customized to you – we will never give anyone a cookie-cutter plan.

I don’t belong to a gym. Can I still do the workouts?

Yes! We customize all of our workouts to the equipment that you have access to as well as how much time you can commit to working out each week.

Do I have to run in order to do your workouts?

No! We do not prescribe any specific form of cardio. We also use cardio as our last tool to aid in weight loss, meaning that we will try to manipulate diet and lifting weights before we would prescribe cardio to you. Our goal is always to have our clients losing weight on as little cardio as possible (while eating as much food as possible).

What is a reverse diet?

A reverse diet is basically just the opposite of what you think of when you think of a traditional diet. With a traditional diet, you would be decreasing caloric intake. However, with a reverse diet, you are actually adding more calories back in gradually with the goal of increasing metabolic capacity (but still minimizing weight gain).

Will I gain weight on a reverse diet?

This depends on the individual. The goal of a reverse diet is not to lose weight, but to get your body back to a healthy maintenance calorie level and restore your metabolic capacity. Some clients will lose weight while increasing calories, some maintain, some gain a small amount. However, everyone who embarks on a reverse diet eventually has a much easier time losing weight when they cut their calories again.

How do I know if I have been under-eating?

While everyone’s body is different and has different calorie needs, you can loosely follow this test: If you have been eating 1500 calories or less for over 6 months and your body is no longer losing weight, you definitely need to spend some time focusing on your metabolism and getting your calories back up before a diet will be effective again.
